WoW Memories in Screenshots: 2010, part 3

November 2010.  The Cataclysm Systems patch, 4.0.1 is live and only a few weeks until the world changes happen and the Cataclysm expansion is released.  Shall we begin?

November 1, 2010  -  The Second Annual Day of the Dead event.  Since it is only a one-day event, I missed the first.
November 2, 2010  -  That throne....
November 3, 2010  -  Part of the Cataclysm pre-release events.  These alters for the Twilight Cult popped in a few places.
November 3, 2010  -  The things a warlock will do for some gold...
November 5, 2010  -  Years later, still finding crazy stuff in Outland.
November 8, 2010  -  With the upcoming world changes the next patch, many old quests would be removed.  A guildmate was close to completing The Scepter of the Shifting Sands questline.
November 8, 2010  -  I wonder what Maws is doing these days.
November 8, 2010  -  By a funny coincidence, shortly after we finished with Maws, another group came up and summoned him.  And then another.
November 8, 2010  -  Malfurion speaks to us from the Emerald Dream?
November 8, 2010  -  The Emerald Dream would be a fun expansion, but I imagine it is water under the bridge at this point.
November 8, 2010  -  To arms!
November 9, 2010  -  I believe this was the end of the questline.  At least as far as Inori could get at this point.
November 16, 2010  -  Patch_4.0.3 is now upon us.  World changes will be in the next week.  Meanwhile, Orgrimmar is on fire!  The elements are attacking!
November 16, 2010  -  While Orgrimmar burns, Stormwind floods and Ironforge has earthquakes.
November 22, 2010  -  Since it would be harder to get Loremaster in Cataclysm, and I was already pretty close, I decided to finish it up.  Kinda cool getting the achievement on one of my favorite questlines.

November 23, 2010  -  This is one of a handful bosses that were available for a short while in the pre-release event.
November 23, 2010  -  Cairne Bloodhoof, may he rest in peace.
November 23, 2010  -  Farewell King Magni Bronzebeard.
November 23, 2010  -  Servers down for patching in Patch 4.0.3a and bringing about the revamped Azeroth.
November 27, 2010  -  Turkeys!!
December 4, 2010  -  Ah, the poor Loch Modan  :(
December 6, 2010  -  Wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!
December 7, 2010  -  Plants vs Zombies!
December 7, 2010  -  Cataclysm release day!  Coincidence that they put it on on Pearl Harbor day?  Probably.  For the first time my Warrior would not be leading the charge (of my toons) into the new expansion.  The Vashj'ir introduction was a lot of fun.  I used a vacation week so I could have off work for the release.
December 8, 2010  -  So I'm inside the head of a giant living sea creature in the ocean.  Wicked!!!
December 8, 2010  -  Having read the War of the Ancients trilogy books over the summer, seeing these sunken ruins was even more awesome.  Vashj'ir was an unique, amazing zone.  Woefully underrated though.
December 8, 2010  -  Where else can you ride a Gnomish Submarine?   No where!
December 8, 2010  -  The broken islands above Vashj'ir.
December 8, 2010  -  Stupid Naga, don't break my submarine!
December 8, 2010  -  Neptulon!
December 8, 2010  -  Run away!!!!
December 9, 2010  -  This little mountain top goblin town was really cool.  Wish there had been more to do there.
December 9, 2010  -  People badmouth Cataclysm, but rolling around killing a 1000 gnomes?  Amazing.
December 10, 2010  -  Two dwarves at the same time.  That's how Carabini rolls.
December 10, 2010  -  Learning about the various Dwarf Clans in the Twilight Highlands and participating in their wedding was pretty fun.
December 10, 2010  -  My mage was my first toon to max level in Cataclysm, hitting level 85 only 3 days after release.
December 12, 2010  -  There were plenty more epic quests to be done though.
December 19, 2010  -  That moment when you see a rare but are in no position to do anything about it...
December 20, 2010  -  During the 22 months Cataclysm was active, Deathwing would randomly terrorize zones in Azeroth.  If you happened to be nearby, you were rewarded with a quick fiery death.
December 24, 2010  -  The Worgen and especially the Goblin starting zones were and are the best starting experiences in the World of Warcraft.  Amazing stuff here.
December 25, 2010  -  A Merry Christmas in Orgrimmar.
December 31, 2010  -  Spending New Years Eve somewhere warm....

Cya next year!!

WoW Memories in Screenshots: 2010, part 2

By August 2010 the Cataclysm Beta had been running for a solid month.  StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty had been released a little more than a month ago as well. Things were quite busy.  About the same time Forged Alliance stopped running their 25-mans, I started running with Exile (on Echo Isles) for their 25-mans on my Mage.  Sometime later I also began running Heroic 10-man Icecrown Citadel with both Exile and a newly formed 10 man group on Destromath.  Both as DPS.

Once again through a WoWInterface Addon Author giveaway, I received a beta key.  One of the first things I did was fly over both continents, finally getting to experience them from the air and not confined to flight paths or the ground.

August 8, 2010  -  The original version of Mount Hyjal in the Beta was a bit different.  There was a massive crater with Baron Geddon.  This area was redone and is now the "Circle of Cinders".
August 18, 2010  -  Dalaran Crater seen from the air in the Cataclysm Beta.
August 19, 2010  -  While Forged Alliance used a standard DKP system, Exile used a system called EPGP.   Both systems had their pros and cons.  I could probably write an entire blog post about them, but I won't.  Instead I'll provide links.  Which I did.  :)
September 6, 2010  -   My Hunter, Rebecka, frozen in one of Sindragosa's Iceblocks.  It was really cold in those damn things.
September 6, 2010  -  I'm still not really sure how people did this, but for a while this was a thing.  It happened in Orgrimmar, Stormwind and Ironforge and was usually botters or gold farmers spamming.
September 7, 2010  -  Cool shot of being resurrected by the ghost of a dead King!
September 7, 2010  -   As part of the Cataclysm Pre-launch events, the Gnomes launched Operation: Gnomeregan and the Trolls began Zalazane's Fall to take back their respective homelands.  Both were very fun events and were usually pretty busy most times of day.
September 7, 2010  -  Zalazane's Fall begins!!  For Vol'jin!!!!
September 7, 2010  -  More trolls here than your average internet forum.
September 7, 2010  -  I got disconnected once or twice in the midst of all this, but made it back in time.
September 7, 2010  -  Voodoo Masks?!?
September 7, 2010  -  Victory!!  The Echo Isles are liberated!
September 7, 2010  -   Operation: Gnomeregan begins!!  For Gnomeregan!!!!
September 7, 2010  -  Flying in for another run at it.  I made sure I ran all events on all 12 of my level 80 characters.
September 7, 2010  -  Broke through the outer defenses, time to retake Gnomeregan!
September 7, 2010  -  Sooo many people participated.  This was during the peak of WoW's population, when there were 12 million active accounts.
September 8, 2010  -  Despite how easy it was, it was possible to screw the event up or fail at it.  Especially at the late hours of night when only a few people were on.

September 11, 2010  -  Uh, whoops..  Wrong button!?

September 8, 2010  -   Sadly, retaking the city was not meant to be and it just gets irradiated again.  One day!
September 9, 2010  -  Old school.  Velistra with Hunter Tier 1Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.  Thandrenn with Warrior Tier 1 and King's Defender.  Standing on top of Icecrown Citadel (from outside the raid).

September 14, 2010  -  Stupid Lich King....
September 15, 2010  -  Working on the Quel'Delar questline.
September 16, 2010  -  More Tier 1 goodness, this time in the Battle of Mount Hyjal raid.
September 16, 2010  -  Flying into the sunset on Cataclysm Beta. So many times I'll be flying somewhere and notice how awesome something like this looks and then spend the next minute or so maneuvering around for a great shot.
September 18, 2010  -  Me on Drushalla with my new Quel'Delar, Might of the Faithful.  Bladewing with his newly completed Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros.  And Velistra with Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.   Yes, I DID say Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.
September 21, 2010  -  Hanging out in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj on our bugs.
September 27, 2010  -  After weeks and weeks of work, Jim's group on Destromath completes Glory of the Icecrown Raider.
September 28, 2010  -  And then the next night my mage on Echo Isles almost completes it as well.  Participating in two Heroic 10-man groups on two servers was pretty interesting.  I was able to help out a bit more bringing strategies that worked with one group to the other.  I still needed 1 more achievement, but that'd have to wait a few more days.
September 30, 2010  -  After we found out that the Zul'Gurub raid was being removed with Cataclysm, we began farming and running it as much as possible while we could.  This little event was started from turning in the Heart of Hakkar that dropped from the last boss.  Sadly this island is no longer there.
October 2, 2010  -  A gnome mage for you, a gnome mage for you, everybody gets a gnome mage!!
October 2, 2010  -  Exile's shiny new Bloodbathed Frostbrood Vanquishers.
October 5, 2010  -  Horde friends!  I created yet another Death Knight on the Arygos realm to play with a friend's Horde characters.
October 10, 2010  -  Remember that quest NPC for Blackrock Depths that you had to be a ghost (dead) in order to see?  I do!
October 11, 2010  -  That's one tall lady!!   Oh look, I had PallyPower installed too.
October 11, 2010  -  Finishing up the Paladin Epic Mount questline before it gets removed.  Cutting it pretty close.
October 12, 2010  -  Patch day incoming!!  Made a new Night Elf and jumped off Aldrassil just before servers went down.

October 12, 2010  -  Patch 4.0.1  -  "Cataclysm Systems" was released.

October 12, 2010  -  Patch 4.0.1 is here, implementing the Cataclysm system changes!  This shot was actually taken on the Beta.  Azeroth flying and the world changes wouldn't come until another patch.  Also this day I finally dumped my giant old CRT monitor for a flatscreen and installed Windows 7.  The screenshots are noticeably wider now.
October 14, 2010  -  One last flyby of the Mirage Raceway.
October 15, 2010  -  Mrgl Mrgl Militia rolling out!
October 22, 2010  -  Killed the Lich King.  Got a pumpkin on my head.  Good day.
October 22, 2010  -  What'd you call me?
October 22, 2010  -  So at the time Blackrock Depths was still a level 55-60 dungeon.  Lonomia asks me if I think we can two-man it with our Horde toons.  So she rolls in there with a 56 or 57 Rogue and I was on a level 62 Frost Deathknight.  Four hours, 1 respec and 2 full repairs later, we finally completed it.  It took a long time, we died a bunch, BUT it was a LOT of fun and felt truly epic when we completed it.  A great memory.

October 2010 is over and the new Cataclysm Systems patch has been on the server a little more than a week now.  We're all getting used to the radical new talents, reforging, class changes and hundreds of other changes.

Part 3 will cover November and December with the Cataclysm world changes and release.
